The transparency effect

Pachica

Pachica is one of the most fascinating papers from Takeo—and a prime example of the Japanese art of thinking beyond paper’s mere function. The surface of Pachica feels like a soft, slightly textured fabric—anyone who holds the paper for the first time is instantly captivated.

The highlight: What truly makes Pachica special only becomes apparent beneath the hot-foil stamping. When a heated embossing die is pressed into the paper, the embossed areas become transparent—much like translucent wax paper. The contrast between the matte, opaque surfaces and the clear embossing creates a fascinating three-dimensional effect. An effect that opens up entirely new creative possibilities for designers.

What is Pachica suitable for? Anywhere where paper is meant not only to look good but also to tell a story: book covers, invitations, business cards, packaging, and high-quality stationery. Pachica is the result of close collaboration between Takeo and designers.
